Our Best Looks for Every Body
Posted on 23 January 2014
Yarra here reviewing the array of outfits created on the Looks for Every Body series, so far. Looking back over this series, the main objective is to make combining clothing from Stella Carakasi’s seasonal collections easy and beautiful to wear for any body shape. I have selected my favorite outfits from our series for each body shape.
Inverted Triangle: The elegant draping of this outfit creates an unusual silhouette. The Scene Stealer Top (available in Dakota) really is! Worn with the Form and Function Skirt (shown in Tuscan rose) the draping of the pair pull the bulk of the outfit into the bottom 2/3 of the body, great for the inverted triangle body type that wants to downplay broad shoulders. Top with a modal Digital Print Scarf (by Shawlsmith) to emphasize soft draping even more.
Rectangle: It’s back! One of our all time favorite styles the Tiburon Tunic (shown in white)! For the rectangle body shape this is an excellent choice to add drama to your form. Belt the Tiburon Tunic and wear with the Reality Check Ankle Pants (available in black).
Circle: Embrace belting and layering. It helps the circle body shape enjoy the tunic trend by adding structure. Here I have paired the Engimatic Tunic (shown in black) over the Slimming Ankle Pants (shown in mink). Accessorize with an infinity scarf in a pop color and a wrap belt with a touch of metallic to set off the mink color of the pants. Permission to play with your wardrobe granted!
Triangle: The Slimming Ankle Pants (shown in black) are the answer for a great start to many outfits for the triangle body shape! At Stella we love these pants because they feel great! They are tight where they need to be, providing support and confidence to those who wear them. Play up the positive with the Over Everything Cardigan (shown in shadow) paired with the Either Way Top (shown in port) and a mixed fabric scarf. Look and feel great in this easy going and stylish look.
The Hourglass: Get funky with your style! Try mixing the Must Have it Sweater (shown in ash) with the Play Your Cards Right Jacket (shown in jade) over the Ready to Wear Leggings (shown in black). This is such a fun and unpredictable look — just pair it with boots and a pendant and you are ready to go!
Perhaps you missed one of these outfits from the series the first time around? I hope this inspires you to look at Stella’s collections with a fresh perspective. Hopefully it sparks your creativity as you approach dressing today.
Elements that work from each of these ensembles are line (silhouette), texture (knit, leather and scarves) and color. Think about how you can introduce two of these elements into your approach to dressing for your body shape. What is your favorite outfit and why does it work for you?
