About Us

In 1993, brothers Allan and Steven Boutrous founded Two Star Dog, Inc. (TSD) with a vision of designing men’s clothing using hemp. When designer Stella Carakasi joined, their vision expanded to include women’s clothing, other ecologically friendly fabrics, and sustainable manufacturing methods.

TSD quickly became pioneers in the fashion industry. As the first U.S. company to develop and market a complete sportswear collection made from hemp, TSD had the most diverse catalog of eco-friendly fashion and was credited as the creator of The Original Hemp Jean®.

In 2012, Carakasi launched a new label under her namesake with a personal vision for creating luxurious and affordable designer wear for women who want to stand out and feel fabulous every day.

The Stella Carakasi Collection brings a fresh perspective, pushing designs for women with silhouettes that flatter, fabric combinations that seduce on sight and touch, and unexpected design details. It is the line where European architectural design meets casual elegance, the line coveted by women looking for affordable luxury.

Now Carakasi is returning to her roots and raising the bar for style, sensuality, and sustainability with the latest in natural fabrics and fabric technology. Current and future collections will incorporate more Natural Lux™ fibers such as Organic Cotton, Linen, Hemp, Bamboo, Tencel®, and Modal®.

Minimalism with a twist, unexpected details and Natural Lux™ have long been Carakasi’s signature, and her design philosophy remains true: create unique and wearable clothing that transform the way women feel.

We are proud to continue its mission of creating beautiful, unique, intelligent and affordable designs while making a positive impact on our local and global communities through our design, commerce and sponsorship.

We produce 8 collections annually, which are available in our network of majors, domestic & international boutiques, and online at The Stella Carakasi Design House and global company headquarters is located in Berkeley, California.
